The TRWD Youth Conservation Team would be pleased to support your school or community event by providing educational activities, games, and prizes to raise awareness about the value of water, our drinking water supply system, and ways to conserve and protect water.
 
Please complete a request form and indicate your preference for the activities listed below. Requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Career Day: Working in Water

Learn about the journey water takes to reach our faucets and the very important workers who provide this essential resource to our community. Visit our Career Day page to learn more.  

Home Water Heroes!

Show off your water-saving skills by demonstrating how to use a little, not a lot, when using water at home! Activity stations may include a bathroom sink, shower stall, washing machine or dishwasher. (Ages 3-8. Can be customized for holiday themed-events.)

Clean Water Challenge

Discover how your drinking water is cleaned and design your own water filter with materials used in water treatment today! (Ages 6 and up. Available for indoor events only.)  

Fly Like a Monarch!

Become a Monarch butterfly searching for Texas wildflowers! Learn about lovely, life-giving plants for Monarchs that can help you save water at home too! (Ages 4 and up. Outdoor events only.)

Texas Plant Two Step

Dance to the music for a chance to win a beautiful Texas plant for your home! We provide a variety of plants for diverse landscapes and help families choose the right plant for their home. (Ages 4 and up)

Engineering H2O

Create a Lego-based model of our water supply system and make a pledge to keep our lakes full!  (Ages 6 and up)

Rain Catchers

Learn about collecting rainwater for home and school gardens by playing the “Toss the Drop” game, using a rain barrel to water plants, and assembling a model rainwater collection system. (Ages 3 and up.)

Spin and Save

Test your water IQ by spinning our water topic wheel, answering a special question about water, and winning a water-saving prize! (Ages 4 and up.)

Grow Texas!

Learn how to grow and care for a native Texas wildflower and plant wildflower seeds to take home!  (Ages 4 and up)

Guess the Gallons

Challenge your friends and family to test their water knowledge by competing in the lively “Guess the Gallons” game. (Ages 8 and up.)

Picture This

Inspire children and their families to share their voices and create a collective work of art expressing your community’s thoughts and feelings about water. Artwork is available for display at your school, community center, or public facility. (Ages 6 and up. Available for indoor events only.)

Wonderful Water Bugs

Look up-close at the hidden world of aquatic insects, discover what they reveal about local waterways, and learn how we can save and protect the water we share. (Ages 6 and up. Available April-October.)

Working in Water

Take a story-walk to learn about our community water heroes! Costume props provided. (Ages 4 and up)

Native Plant Guess Who

Follow the clues to identify a mystery plant in a Texas garden display. Native plant giveaway at end of program! (Ages 6 and up. Available March-November.)
